How's this for section tee design peepz? (This is the back of the tee)
The tee will be a grey polo tee (trying a different colour).
The signboard on top will be the member's name. The words 'Where I Belong' will be typed out in some Classic font.
The front of the polo tee will just be a very simple TK BAND FRENCH HORN logo, with no year so every batch can wear it.
We'll get more people to buy it so we can cut costs. xD Current members have to buy it though. NO CHOICE~~ :D

Any comments on it? And all horns plz try to buy k? Cuz once a TKBFHist, always a TKBFHist (omg so corny -.-) Yeapz plz reply if u want by tagging here, or you can tell any current TKBFHist or me.

Also, we will be organising a TKBFH BBQ at the end of the year. More details will be out when it comes closer to the date. Organisers are Michelle (yours truly), Jet and Vinnie (most likely there will be more). Venue most likely will be at East Coast Park if its just a BBQ. If its a chalet, Downtown East probably? On a side note, TK Band got a Gold, so basically speaking, looking at this year's results, TK Band is one of the top 30 bands, judging on the performance of SYF, which is not bad at all. Given the fact that we have Outdoor you know, and we only took 4 months to train! =/

Thus, be proud of yourselves, that we are able to achieve this result in such a short period of time.

Yeap, that's about it. I guess I'll just update yall on which are the schools performing for Presentation Night when it is announced.

How's the best section in drills doing so far?

Haha on a separate note, I'm really looking forward to this year's EOY Concert. I understand that it's expensive just to fund for next year's Netherlands trip... But honestly, it's quite unreasonable to squander our money away like that. But don't worry, TKBFHornists, I'm still going~

And as a sec four, I'm really looking forward to this year's farewell party, too! ;)

On the night of the concert, I'm expecting a WOW performance from you guys, considering it's been a long time since I've heard you guys play and I'm assuming you guys have improved tremendously. Keep up the good work, and don't forget to thank your SL for your progress.

Recently, we've got a new section mate. Well I guess most of you already know -- Rashidah! Okay I know this switching of instrument is really massive. So Rashidah, get used to it! ;)
As you know, horns are (quite) good in drills -- well, it used to be better, but we are still one of the top sections in drills I believe. We are the Best Section after all. So, you must uphold the French Horn glory yeah? =)

Hmm..Singapore Fireworks Festival is around the corner -- this coming Friday and Saturday. I guess the Sec 4s will be apprehensive about going, but I'm going for sure. At least there will not be a super obvious hole in AP and all the other formations cuz my spot is in front for those formations. (3 cheers for Mich!!! ;P Nyehehe..)

Wahaha I guess it will be a damn magnificent sight lor. Finish our display then BOOM! got fireworks. WOW yeah? I'm looking forward to it, but I hope this is the LAST time cuz prelims are around the corner and I've not started yet!! (RED ALERT!!)

I have not recovered from the 'missing KL sickness' yet. I wanna go back!!! I wanna relieve the times we spent and the things we did!! -- refer to previous post..

Ranting and ranting. That's all I do these past few days. Or is that so? I'm not very sure myself either. I'm not happy that I missed Saturday's after-audi-session sectionals. I wanted to see Haziq's (pathetic) attempts at conducting. -.- I mean, its just moving your arms and keeping the beat constant right? And hey! I can do better than that. ;P Maybe I should teach Haziq how to conduct properly in the bus to Marina Bay on Friday and Saturday. But that's another story, so I'd be gone now! Ciao!

THE AFTERMATH

Hey ppl..Its one wk after KLWMBC Prelims...And 6 days after the finals..Ah well, time really does fly..Just not too long ago we were still trying to brush up our standards to get in tune for KL...And now we are just living peacefully with almost no band in our lives...Yes the next band prac is 16th Aug. And well, possibly the Sec 4's last band practice. sad indeed. what would life be without band?

Ah back to KLWMBC..I would like to say thanks to TK Band French Horns for making this trip so memorable for me..And probably for the rest of us Sec 4s..haha the hardcore camwhoring, the crazy singing at the back of the bus, hiding the gums in our cases and me blabbering how much I didn't want to go to jail..lol wacky 4 days we had...

Forbidden sectionals were damn fun too..haha we have videos to prove it..lol what a ruckus we made..Hey, not to say that we made havoc! LOL. Oh yes horns, I'm damn proud of all of you. A 'SILVER' standard. Its not bad at all. =)

Now back to the present..Most of the time spent now will be studies, studies and studies..And honestly, its quite pathetic right?? Sigh, we can't help it right? Not that we want society to judge us by academic qualifications or certificates..Pathetic pathetic shit. ;D

Sigh. What would I do without band? What would WE do without band?

Oh yea and I just cut my hair. Its super short. -.- wth. XD

I would like to emphasize AGAIN how proud I am of all of you. This has been a wonderful journey with all of you and I enjoyed to process so much and surely, I will never ever forget a single fragment of it. To my juniors: Carry on the TKBFH legacy! Now that the perfectionist Mich, the sexy-and-hot-as-hell Nad =X, the funny Ian and wacky Ben are finally (almost) going to leave as officially band members, hopes all lie on the next batch. We have done our jobs, now, it is time to do yours. Remember everything we told you and keep them etched in your minds k?

Ah well, enough for a very long post. We'll just see how things go. Good luck to the Sec 1s, 2s and 3s for their common tests and Sec 4s for 'O' Level English Orals. And other coming tests. So long! Ciao!

MUAHAHA...as the title suggests, yeap, its 10 days to KL! Yoo hoo!!! well, im excited bout like everything...except for the fact that we are sitting the same coach as 'ahem'. sorry arhh...no offence la, but ya know...ah, never mind...the hornies know what im trying to imply..=)

lol...yay there's band today...sectionals tmr...instrument polishing and go MJC-cum-Jap Band concert on thursday...and band again on friday...and homecoming on saturday!!! whoa! so many things bunched together..heehee, being the band freak, i just can't wait! lol can't wait for concert...can't wait to slip myself into that smart-looking uniform...can't wait for KL...can't wait for hardcore camwhoring sessions!! Heehee...

As the title implies, I'm going to list down a few things that make us US! >:)

WHEN WE DO DRILLS,

we know we're lifting our legs 90 degrees when:
- At 5 o'clock in the field, our shadows never lie.
- we can see our knees, dude.
- our thighs start to ache.

We know we're spinning when...
- Our skirts swish (and the guys? dunno)
- Our shoes have holes in their soles!
- Everything's a blur.
- Your shoulders ache from all the jerking.
- We forget to breathe.
- When spectators go 'wow'.
- when we hear the slamming sound on our bell (oops)

But all in all, we know we've got good drills when we win BEST SECTION (DRILLS)!!! WOOOO!!

I want everyone to add on to the list I made above kay??

I also have a few tips: You know you're not *&%$#ing horsekicking (when your legs look like this: > where the pointy part is the knee) when you can actually see the tips of your toes as you hentak, considering you POINT YOUR TOES (cannot emphasise this enough) and you lift your legs.

FRENCH HORNS, THERE IS NO EXCUSE! Us sec fours EXPECT (haha more like DEMAND) WORTHY drills on your part...

I shouldn't even be reminding you people about drills anymore. Our drills are hardly up to standard, man. Have you seen em properly?

Why am I suddenly so affected by all this? All these years, our drills as TK Band have made us who/what we are - unique. Our drills (and posture) are but our pride and legacy passed on from Ms Irene Joseph's time.
We should be thankful that our "intensive drills" aren't even THAT intensive now... Even so, it doesn't justify the reason why our drills are totally not up to the standards of what it used to be. We as "carriers of the legacy (omg so corny)" should feel ashamed to only hold remnants of what used to be. This shouldn't be happening.

Now, the majority of the band members would say to the minority: "Wow!! Your drills are sooo gooood!!"

Back then, I'm pretty sure they would've said: "Eee... Why your drills so ugly one?"

To make us who we are as a band, (and I mean AS A BAND), we can't have so few of us with examplary drills while the rest aren't nearly there. By what many can see now, we make people with good drills stand out like sore thumbs. And that's just sad.
I'm not gonna get started on band unity (never worked that way anyway), but the least we could do is have the same standard of drills throughout - be it sec ones or sec fours. It's not even about unity anymore - It's about coordinated execution of movements.

I'm not asking for more of us members to have good drills... But ALL of us members with good drills. I'm telling you - it's not difficult at all. Start early and it will stick to you like glue.

So HOOORNS, I believe we have what it takes to uphold the TK Band standards. We do - I know it. Seen it over the years, too. Besides, what better way to get the band in shape than to get the section in shape first?

I DUN WANT MARCHING FRENCH HORNS!!! well i guess it may be too late to say this in any case. thru SERIOUS contemplation, we've decided that marching horns definitely have more disadvantages than advantages...here they are:

ADVANTAGES:
~erm. its loud? and yea, cheaper. -.-

DISADVANTAGES:
~the tone sucks -- its BLARING.. no joke
~its FUGLY! like obesed trumpet...-.-
~cannot check dressing in front...the bell blocks us
~CANNOT JERK!!
~its super straining on the left arm...
~its kanasai

strangly, the alumni contradict with each other...with ONLY nad and i using the marching horn (also known as mellophone), mr siao and bong said the volume increasing by like 10%, HOWEVER, mr yong said the both of us drowned the whole band... -.- and the thing is that we were playing at our usual volumes mann...wtf? ya know, they shd have AT LEAST asked our opinion...now we have no choice, cuz the horns are alr ordered, and they are coming in early July...dammit...

IM TOTALLY AGAINST THE IDEA OF MELLOPHONES!!!! im distraught too...

Marching Horns?

12 June, or yesterday, rather, was FRENCH HORN REPAIRING DAY!
yeah, I know, total whoopdeedoo (as in we just made the occasion up) and the sec fours (ehehehe) decided to take time off from the block to repair our mangled pieces of crap... I mean, our horns, once and for all!!

I'll upload em pictures when michelle finally sends em over.

We used nylon wires at first, covered with layers and layers of scotchtape. And we're not being sarcsatic when we say the horns are as secure and as stable as a wall. (FINALLY!) Except Vinnie's. Sorry Vinnie, your horn still moves abit but everything else has been dealt with completely! :D

Then Alan came over and told us that we could use those weird plastic wires which you can pull through some notch and it will stay as tight as you want it to be. Dammit. Wasted our time with the damn nylon strings!! Sorry, trumpets, I think we finished the last reel of nylon string. Hehehe

But with every good news, there is BAD NEWS! (or not) Ian managed to hog this particular horn down that belongs to none other than Huat Leng. If you shake the horn, the entire part consisting of the valves would pop out. No joke.
That horn: ANNOUNCED CONDEMNED! Or maybe not. Not confirmed, but it seems like it.
Name given to horn: MASTERY of FUCKERY.

And after all that hard work, Mr Seow told us that he'd be getting new horns for us. At first we were all hollering and cheering like mad buffoons (considering the fact that we'd spent more than an hour fixing the old horns) in the canteen but then alan told us it was actually marching horns.
Then we were all like... IT's NOT NICE!! AND IT'S NOT STYLISH! AND IT'S NOT UNIQUE! WHAT KINDA INSTRUMENT GIMMICK CAN WE DO WITH A FAT TRUMPET? WE CAN'T HOLD IT AT 45 DEGREES ANYMORE! AND WE CAN'T SWING IT OUT FROM UNDER OUR ARMPITS ANYMORE D':

We tried to oppose the idea but then we'll see if the marching horn's good tmr. Mr Seow's gonna bring two of em for us to try.

I'm still distraught.

heyz! maybe yall are wondering why i didnt post the past few days...or maybe u dont...but wadeva. yea my comp broke down and miraculously, i managed to switch it on today!!! MUAHAHA!!!

Yet another post

Ah! I had a look at the template of the blog, and thought it was pretty damn easy to manage. I think I need a mentor! The whole damn thing was in code, something I am not familiar with since I last had a blog.

Oh well.

This day at band was still as smelly as the last band prac, if not smellier. The mud was UNBEARABLE! So goddamn smelly! Other than that, it was a normal band practice, with the section commenting on Ming Wei's commands, how he asks us to check dressing. We then came up with more stupid ideas, like checking from the top, the front, and even from the back!

End of band practice was later than usual. Chin Kiat and I had some fun screaming along with some song. When I was about to alight from the bus, I suddenly realised that my wallet was not in my pocket. I missed that stop trying to look for my wallet that was in my bag all the time. How stupid could I get? O_o...

Mr Azlan on DOND. Seriously, I don't give a shit about that show. Mum still addicted to Korean dramas, sister at work. Lol

haha...hi again...as all TK Band band members will know...today (13/12) was yet another pretty pooped day...bleah...the shit was unbearable. and WAAHH!!! my daughter went hong kong never bring me along...so unfilial (erm, is that how u spell it?)...=P.. oh and anyway...chef tofu came back to singapore today!! Wow! this is like my first post after 6 years, so I'll keep it compact.

Discipline must be up. I've heard that the juniors in our section cannot even endure a 4.5kg lump of metal. And I must say, when you put down your horn to shoulder-height people will notice it. Especially the Horns. Hell, if you give it a slight twitch the people on your left and right will also notice. And the former is significantly contagious. Believe me, one person in a particular section can bring the entire section's discipline down. Just by succumbing to the shoulder pain, back pain, leg pain, finger pain. You just note this: it's all in the mind. If Brian can do it with me on his right while doing the 180 degrees Eight steps to Five yards, I don't see the reason why you all shouldn't. Or, try paying attention to something else while you are enduring. It works tremendously. When the worst comes, you'll get it from me and Ian. Prolly Mich and Nad too.

Other than that, there's still responsibility. It's nothing much, just wait till next year. When my batch steps down.

Blog's nice, but a bit too plain, I personally do not like black as a background colour. Sucks all life out of the blog. Horny is not all about black; it's emo. I require a bit more colour, perhaps bright. Horn picture is a bit too pixellised, too much sharp edges, so I'm just suggesting more work aren't I? =P

Still, credit goes to the people who made the blog: Wen Hui and Michelle. Nice work, and since I don't do much at home, you can expect me to learn how to do code and stuff and try to change the blog. Xbox's down with red lights flashing at Six, Nine and Twelve. Hardware problem. If you all know whatever the hell I mean. So, I'll just learn from scratch again.

Aw, this is past my sleeping time, still have to get up at 7 tmr.

I really don't care about the homework part. You all know me.

NEWSFLASH GUYS!
As much as I've got alot of time to talk to you guys during band (pshyeah, right), we needa talk. About. STUFF! Yeah, we don't have sectionals or SEXtionals or whatever anymore. Quite sad. But spares me the time I could use for sleep at home. Anyway, since I can't find time to talk to you guys in school, I'll say what I hafta here!!

Horns, we're getting a bit too complacent, aren't we? Yeah, we won the best section thingy but don't let that fool you. We all know what Mr Azlan had mentioned about us not being up-to-standard still. I can see you guys are improving so much and hell yeah - the sec FOURS (OMG that's me, mich, ben and ian) are so proud of you juniors!!

I don't want to see complacency, no slacking (that means enduring your horn, hentaking 90 all the way - or at least try damn hard) and trust me, we'd be waaaaay beyond what people expect of us. CAN DO IT ANOT??! :P It's not about being the best section, guys... It's about bringing the band to GLLLOOOORRRYYYY!!

Hmm, what else should I nag at you guys about... Whatever, I know it's the MUMMY'S job to nag... nyehehe but as long as I have the word 'MOTHER' in my name, I am entitled to nag! ;p
Oh yeah - DISCIPLINE. NYAHAHAH

It's not only our section that's lacking in this, believe me you. It's practically the whole band. You guys'd be soo soo glad you weren't born years ago cos the previous batches were really harsh on the band. And that's why their discipline WAS so good. We're lacking in that area cos we're being too leanient (however u spell that) and we need to step it up. From sec 2s to 4s, all of us, including me.

Ok lah, my nagtime is over. Hope you guys know what to do the next prac!!

P.S Back from band, havent showered, took my time to watch Japanese band videos (they're awesome) and band today was -phooohh - now I've got two sources of motivation when I feel too tired to hentak 90 all the way. On either side of me, there's Ben and Wen Hui and damn now NONE of us can slack nyahahaha! cos I keep telling myself if they can hentak 90, so can I!

After that, farewell party ended...I think the Sec 4s liked the presents we gave them...for nic: a belt and a chain, SJ: a necklace, Phat: a purse, earrings and a bangle...and I guess they had fun...

Goodbye is difficult to say...but we had to face it...the Sec 4s were our graduating batch and horns will miss them...well at least I know I will...=D

Hi! I'm back!!! Hmmm...lets backtrack to 6th Dec, which was the TK Band Farewell Party... Well firstly...in the morning, it was just indoor combined...but attendance was really bad!! cuz many thought that we wld have outdoor...and we wouldn't get to shower...HAHA!! horns were still present...YEA!! then we did the deco stuff...then change blah blah blah...after that, the Sec 4s started streaming in...wow and our senior, Sijia was so gothic lol...damn nice...and then performance...then dinner...then performance again...in the Sec 3s performance, I was supposed to sing...but apparently, the music wasn't played at the correct time...and they skipped my part...haiz...pity...

HEY people! if you are wondering what tkbfh is...erm its just TK Band French Horns... apparently...our section is made up of Michelle (me), Ian, Nadia, Benjamin, Rachel, Haziq, Wen Hui, Vinnie and Brian...=)...and this section blog thingy was my idea...obviously haha...erm well i shall stop for now...smell ya later...erm yea and anw wenhui is busy doing e blog stuff...DUN DISTURB!!!
